Biography

Debbie Simon, LCSW-R,  received her masters degree (MSW) in Clinical Social Work at Simmons School of Social Work in 1986.

She has a BA in Psychology from Boston University and is also trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy. 

Her varied experiences include:

• Research on Autism at SUNY Stony Brook
  
• Forensic Psychology at Harvard Continuing Ed Program
• Medical Social Work in several major teaching hospitals from 1984 - 2006 including:
  
• Boston's Beth Israel Hospital
• NYU Medical Center
• Lutheran Medical Center
• NY/Columbia Presbyterian
• Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and
  
• Calvary Hospice

Providing Crisis Intervention and Supportive Counseling in the following units:

• Emergency Room
• ICU
• OB/Gyn
• Pediatrics
• Psychiatry
• Oncology
• HIV

Skilled at:

• Crisis Intervention
• The Treatment of Emotional Traumas
• Supportive Counseling for Caretakers
• Counseling for the Chronically and Terminally Ill and Newly Diagnosed

Ms. Simon has been a Clinical Social Worker, a Manager, a SW Supervisor, and a Program Coordinator in the Health Field for 22 years.

She supervised MSWs and MSW students and was an Adjunct Professor for Columbia's School of Social Work for five years.

She also has a background in modern dance, ice dance and figure skating.
